Flood relief campaign 2022
Introduction
Unusually heavy monsoon rains occurring from mid-June to September have resulted in flash floods and standing water throughout Pakistan. This has led to significant human and livestock casualties, as well as widespread destruction of homes and infrastructure. As of September 23rd, the number of houses damaged or destroyed has surpassed 2 million, with 1.2 million houses being damaged and over 805,000 houses completely destroyed. The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) has reported a total of 1,600 deaths and more than 12,850 injuries since mid-June, including 579 children who lost their lives and over 4,000 children who were injured. Recent estimates indicate that approximately 7.9 million individuals have been displaced due to the heavy rains and floods, including approximately 598,000 people currently residing in relief camps according to reports by the respective Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) of the affected provinces. Moreover, reports suggest that over 5,000 schools are currently being utilized to accommodate the displaced populations, while approximately 23,900 schools have been damaged.
Program objective
To extend urgent assistance to individuals impacted by flooding on September 14, 2022, through the provision of essential supplies such as food, clothing, and medicine.
Highlights of the program
We instantly mobilize resources to offer assistance to individuals affected by floods. Through the generous support of our donors and crowdfunding, we successfully gather clothing and funds. In addition to the donated clothes, we also provide dry food to hundreds of families in the flood-impacted regions of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Recognizing that people have lost everything, including food, we ensure that children receive school books and bags to continue their education.
Moreover, we organize a Fundraising Musical Night event to raise funds, which proves to be highly successful. With the funds acquired, we are able to support Many families with groceries, medicines, and clothing on a monthly basis. The following day, we undertake a journey from Islamabad to the flood-affected area of Nawazshah in Sindh, where we deliver essential food supplies.
